Discover the stories of this ancient landscape, once a huge river delta and home to hundreds of Aboriginal Australians, the oldest living culture on Earth! Trace the footsteps of the early farmers and settlers and hear the first-hand experience of life on Restdown today. View indigenous heritage sites and learn how people have lived and worked around this ancient wetland for millennia.

Your guide and current custodian Don is a 6^th generation Australian farmer who grew up nearby. He’ll share his knowledge of the land, the wetland ecosystem and respect for the traditional custodians of Restdown, the Barapa Barapa people. 

Time: The walk is an easy 1-hour stroll over flat ground.

Cost: $15/person for groups of 6 or more.

Smaller groups: $90/group

Includes:

• Local guide with extensive knowledge of the land and local indigenous culture.
• Meet and greet with Gracie the kelpie, assistant tour guide (and muster dog extraordinaire.)
• Proceeds contribute to the maintenance and care of our beautiful wetland.

Immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of the Australian bush as you make your way around the wetland walking trail. The trail is well marked with interpretive signage providing insights into the ancient culture of the Barapa Barapa people, early European settlement, the wetland ecosystem and its importance to farming practices today. 

Time: Allow 45 minutes – 1 hour for the walk. It’s an easy walk over flat ground.

Cost: $7/person.

Includes:

• Unlimited time to explore the wetland ecosystem and surrounds, take a seat in the outdoor classroom and soak up the serenity.
• Proceeds contribute to the maintenance and care of our beautiful wetland.

Sample your group’s choice of 4 wines in the ambience of the Restdown underground cellar. Winemaker Jo or Vigneron Don will talk you through the wines, explaining the care and attention to detail that goes into producing these certified organic, European-inspired wines, right here on the premises at Restdown.

Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum for the tasting.

• Filtered drinking water.

Recommended: You may like to add a Nibbles Platter or Local Lunch Platter to accompany the tasting.

Enjoy a Personalised Wine Tasting along with a selection of organic and locally sourced seasonal morsels – tasty bites to enjoy while you sip! Think olives, freshly picked or preserved gourmet fruits from the Restdown Organic Kitchen Garden and artisan cheese with crackers.

Enjoy a Personalised Wine Tasting followed by a delicious lunch sourced from the Restdown Organic Kitchen Garden, local gourmet producers and the surrounding region. The Platter changes with the seasons, ensuring everything you taste will be bursting with flavour. Tasty terrines, cheeses from artisan producers, homemade sourdough bread, with a salad and preserved or fresh fruits. You won’t be disappointed! Dietary requirements can be catered for.
